Types of Scooter
Light Duty Scooter (Portable)
For use over flat level surfaces, available in three or four wheeled versions, the three wheel scooter is ideal for indoor use, having a narrow front end & tends to be more maneuverable.
Both three & four wheeled scooters will fold up and fit in an average cars boot, making them well suited for family shopping trips & days out. Because of the size of the battery distance is limited & ground clearance is low.
Midi Scooter
A mid range scooter sometimes two speed, usually comes apart in three or four sections to fit in a car, has a larger ground clearance & larger batteries giving a better range.
Can be time consuming to dismantle and the various sections can be heavy to lift. Most have lights.
Full Size Scooter
The full size scooter is very heavy, a few of them can be dismantled but this is a tiresome ordeal & the component parts are still heavy.
The tiller steering column usually folds down & the seat can be removed. Enabling the scooter to be loaded into a large estate car or van using ramps, but without the use of the motor this can still be quite a task.
They break down into a further three groups, a four mile an hour scooter that can be driven on the pavement, 4mph is the maximum speed allowed on pavements.
Next is the two speed scooter, 4mph - 7.5mph this type is not strictly road legal.
The next is the Class 3 scooter, two speed 4mph/8mph and is road legal. The scooter is registered with the DLVA & zero rated tax disc is required.
The vehicle is registered to us and we are duty bound to provide the hirers details to the police if requested.
Manual Chairs
Manual chairs are available in both self propelled and assisted versions, if hiring for more than three days, it may be cheaper to buy than hire. Please ask, either way we are able to help.
